  • A New Year – A New Member – LCR Welcomes Jane Stevens

    Lawrence Central is honored to welcome Jane Stevens to Rotary!  Jane is the Director of MediaJane Stevens Strategies for the World Corporation  and the face behind WellCommons – Who's mission is to Create a safe place and a trusted source for local health news in Douglass County.

    Jane's a journalist who's specialty is working with news organizations as they make the transition from print, magazine, TV and radio to the Webworld.

    She's traveled the world and in her classification talk discussed her time abroad and a study that explores traumatic events in raising children and the correlation to chronic health issues later in life.  Welcome Jane!

  • Happy Holidays from the Lawrence Central Rotary

    From all of us at the Lawrence Central Rotary Club, may happiness be yours during his Season of Goodwill and may the New Year bring peace on Earth.

    To celebrate, we were treated to a performance from the Lawrence High Chorale at our annual Holiday lunch in the festive Eldridge Hotel Crystal Ballroom.  Here is one of the selections they presented.

     

  • Lawrence Central Helps with Salvation Army & Christmas Parade

    The Lawrence Central Rotary family was busy Saturday 12/4 as we worked double duty on Mass Street downtown.  We staffed the Salvation Army Kettle drive in front of Weaver's Department Store for the day and also helped with crowd control for the annual Downtown Lawrence Old-Fashioned Christmas parade.  It was a little chilly, but it was great to be out supporting our community and seeing old friends and new.

    The Lawrence Journal World did a story about past president Scott Wagner and his family manning the kettle collecting donations for the Salvation Army. Click HERE to see the entire story.

  • Rotary International & The Gates Foundation in the News.

    The work of Rotarians caught the attention of the news program 60 Minutes. In a segment that aired 3 October, a 60 Minutes reporter said the Gates Foundation joined with Rotary International "to bang on very door — to find the last child who hasn't tasted the vaccine" to prevent polio.

  • RI District 5710 Governor John Vandewalle Visits Lawrence Central

    Rotary International District 5710 District Governor John Vandewalle spoke to our club 9/22 to discuss his goals for the district and motivate everyone at the club level to think bigger and bolder.
     
    One great point he made was that as Rotarians we need to attract younger members to help us make the our communities and the world a better place and to be proud of our association with this impressive organization.
